Tribute

Mary Jo Davidson passed away peacefully at her home in Mount Vernon, Texas on 4/21/2022 after a brief, but courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born on December 3, 1935, to Claxton Pryor and Geneva Tinsley in Hopkins County, Texas. She was the 3rd of 8 children. Mary “Jo” grew up in New Diana, Texas and graduated from New Diana High School and moved to Dallas to attend Rutherford Metropolitan School of Business. She married Frank Davidson, the love of her life, on March 26, 1955. They began their family in Mesquite, Texas and lived there for 40 years.

She worked in the insurance business all her working career and retired form Peavy Insurance as Vice President in 1996. At this time, she and Frank moved to Mount Vernon, Texas to begin their retirement.

Mary “Jo” has traveled many miles seeing sights in Europe, Alaska, and countless places in the United States. Anyone who knew Mary “Jo” knew that she loved hunting, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, and sewing. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Texas and for several years taught young children in Sunday School. She enjoyed participating in ladies’ bible studies and caring for others through selfless acts of service which would often consist of a delicious pie. Mary “Jo” loved her family and especially loved watching the grandkids and all their shenanigans when they would come and spend time with her and Papa. Mary “Jo” will be greatly missed by her friends, her family, her church, and her community.

She is preceded in death by Claxton and Geneva Pryor, brother Bill Pryor and son, Duane Davidson.
