Hazel Dean Collvins, 84, passed away on May 29, 2022, surrounded by her loving family in Mount Pleasant, Texas. She was born on September 27, 1937, in Red River County, Texas to Wayne Herrington and Ora {Hicks) Herrington.
Hazel was a 1955 graduate of Clarksville High School. On October 28, 1955, Hazel married the love of her life, Bobby John Collvins in her parent's Irving home.
Bobby and Hazel raised their children in Irving before moving to Franklin County in 1992. Hazel was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she worked as a secretary, retiring in 1990 after 34 years and 3 months of service.
When Bobby and Hazel moved to Scroggins, they became very active members of Clearwater Baptist church in Scroggins, and later Pine St. Baptist Church in Winnsboro, where Bobby served as a deacon. Hazel enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School friends and their weekly domino games. She became a member of First Baptist Church Mount Vernon in 2019.
Bobby and Hazel retired in 1990, they spent their time traveling, spending many summers in Colorado or Tennessee. Hazel was an avid reader, loved puzzles, scrapbooking, cooking, and doing crafts. She loved to spend time with her family whether it was with her children, grandchildren or brothers and sisters and multitude of family and friends. Hazel shared many precious moments and got a few trips in with her soulmate and twin sister Linda Power.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Patricia Blankenship.
Hazel leaves behind her loving children, Terri Kimbler and husband, Roger of Irving, TX., and Robby Collvins and wife, Stefanie of Mount Vernon, TX; four grandchildren, Danielle T Hornhill and husband, Parker of Edmond, OK, Ethan Collvins and wife, Meredith of Stillwater, OK, Cheyenne Kimbler of Crowley, TX and Carson Collvins of Mount Vernon, TX; six great grandchildren, Ava, Tyler, Blake, Hayes, Maggie Jo and Maverick; ten brothers and sisters, Vivian Spradlin Burrus, Deloyce Minter, Betty Minter, twin sister, Linda Power, Ruby Garrett, Edith Auston, Larry Herrington, David Herrington, Sandra Jones and Kathy Farmer.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 01, 2022, from 10:30AM to 12:00PM at First Baptist Church Mount Vernon. Funeral service will follow at 12:00PM. Interment will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 11:00AM at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, TX.
In lieu of flowers family would like memorials to be made to the Franklin County Library.
